In the United States, it is extremely important to be politically correct. This means that you need to be nice to all groups and that everyone is entitled to a participation trophy. So there are many liberal Americans who have taken offense with the Washington Redskins Football Team’s name. They say that it is offensive to Native Americans. The owner of the Redskins, Dan Snyder has been refusing to change the name, and now it is unlikely that he will do so. In fact, someone managed to commission a poll on the matter among the Native American tribes. The results are shocking. At a majority of over 90%, nearly all Native Americans do not find the name of the Washington Redskins offensive. This seems to be a huge setback to liberals and progressives all across America who have fought tirelessly to get the name changed.

Like the name or hate it, the Washington Redskins will always be the Washington Redskins. This is the original name of the team, and this will always be the teams name. Now that most Native Americans do not find the name to be offensive, the liberals who have tirelessly fought for change have been defeated on this matter. To be honest, the fact that over 80% of Native Americans who identified as liberal do not find it offensive makes the defeat even worse. In reality, this whole issue should be a non-issue as there are more significant problems in Football, and America in general that should probably be sorted out before everyone starts to demand that the name changes. This is all a bit ridiculous that the naming issue comes up every few years.

To conclude, it’s going to be really interesting how this whole issue turns out, yet one thing is clear. As long as Dan Snyder owns the Washington Redskins, they will still be the Redskins.
