If you happen to be looking to launder money, there are many ways which you can do so. You can do it the old fashion way with cash, or you can be a bit more advanced and use off-shore corporations. This is what the Sharif family of Pakistan did. Recently revealed documents from the Panama Papers reveal that Nawaz Sharif and family have been involved in a series of real estate deals, all around the world.

Currently the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif is a wealthy man, in comparison to many of his citizens. Pakistan is one of the world’s poorest countries. It also has many problems ranging from terrorism to public corruption. This hasn’t seemed to stop Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family from using the Panamanian law firm, Mossack Fonesca to help him draw up paperwork in order to start several companies in the British Virgin Islands, a notorious tax haven. The companies, which were registered to his children are currently the proud owners of property in trendy neighborhoods in London such as Hyde Park. All of this comes as many of Pakistan’s citizens are starving, and there are huge problems with security in Pakistan. It is really a shame to see that there is a public leader who is really mostly focused on enriching himself and his family, but who is too embarrassed to do this in the light of day.  It also appears that member of the Sharif family were investigation by the Pakistani Finance ministry on suspicion of money laundering in 2012, in connection with one of their companies. Clearly it looks like this isn’t over, and all that we see is the Prime Minister Nawaz Shaif seems to have a really big problem on his hands right now. I’m not so sure if resigning would get him out of it, but it might be a good start.
